I had no idea how busy Vox is compared to a high flying service like Twitter. Wow! This is a pretty strong community. Granted it isn't a status update service/microblogging wanna be service like Twitter is but there is seems to be a lot of steam in blogs. They are certainly nothing to be sneezed at, particularly not a service like Vox.
Yesterday I hatched a new plan to change my blogs around and emphasise my various life streams on the Web. I took my Wired Gecko blog, exported its content and then merged the content with my law blog with the plan to amalgmate them into a single personal blog. I also wanted to turn Wired Gecko into my tumblelog (have I said this stuff before, having a strong sense of deja vu!?) and use that blog for bits and pieces I come across on the Web.
True to form I moved Wired Gecko over to the tumblelog before planning the rest of the process properly and I now have Wired Gecko working well but the consolidated blog just doesn't come up. Not sure what I did there! I have been thinking how handy it would be to just use this blog as my main blog although the two problems are that I can't import over 3 years of posts from Wired Gecko and I can't really put my own AdSense ads on Vox and keep my trickle of advertising revenue coming in.
Aside from these two issues, Vox is a pretty decent candidate as a main blogging platform ...
After weeks of heat we have rain. It has been raining for the last half hour or so and the day has turned into a perfect "stay at home" day (Gina prefers BMW to describe the day). I have a bit of work today so that is what I am up to this afternoon. I have a Fleetwood Mac list on iTunes which I am playing. It seems like perfect music for this weather.
On another note, Gina has been blogging up a storm on her blog. She has really taken to it and I look forward to reading what she publishes. I'd love to take credit and say that all my blogging has rubbed off on her but that isn't really true. Her real inspiration is Tertia Albertyn whose blog, So Close, is a tremendously successful blog here and which Tertia uses to share her experiences with her infertility, her gorgeous twins and her life in general.
Anyway, I must get back to work. Still got some money to earn so I can bill it at the end of next week.
Gina is blogging! Go girl!
I'm trying out a new daily schedule, starting today. I have reached a point where I have so many projects in early development and my practice is pretty busy. At the same time I have committed myself to posting to some of my blogs every day and that takes time to research the posts properly and publish decent posts. It is paying off because traffic to those blogs is increasingly very nicely.
So, starting today, I am up at 6am to blog for roughly 2 hours. Then I am off to gym at around 8am (after all the eating the last month or so, I need to exercise a lot more) and then back home to bath and change before starting my law firm work for the day. I also need to schedule some time for the projects I am involved in so I will probably do my paying work until mid-afternoon and then get cracking on what I have to do there as well. It is a little ambitious (particularly the morning thing because I also have to feed the puppies, get dressed and get to gym and still get the blogging done so it doesn't intrude on the rest of the day) so I am going to give it a go and tweak where necessary.
This morning I woke up to a storm and it has been raining for the last hour or so. I love waking up to rain but I draw the line at thunder and lightening mainly because Salami freaks out a bit and starts running around barking (which pretty much puts an end to sleep for me). Anyway, I'd better get back to my blogs. Gina will be up soon and then things start happening here.
Ok, this is a bit a strange post. I did a post on Tertia Albertyn's post titled "The anti blogging movement" where she talks about the rise of mommy bloggers who come under criticism for blogging about their kids. I would love to know what you think if you are a mommy blogger (or even if you are not). I have a few thoughts about blogging as an extension of our natural forms of self-expression and I wonder if anyone shares those thoughts?
On a completely different topic, I have a bee in my bonnet (metaphorically speaking) to find a copy of "Stairway to Heaven" and buy either an mp3 version or aac version (for iTunes). Unfortunately the iTunes store is not available in South Africa yet and I don't know where to find a legal version I can buy and download. I don't suppose anyone can point me in the right direction?
Hah, I just found Wil Wheaton on Vox. Ok, private "yay" moment is over now, I'm off to bed.
(seriously, I am chuffed he blogs on Vox - I really enjoy the stuff he does and his blogs)
I just realised that the last time I posted on this blog was over a week ago. I have been pretty busy lately (thankfully business is picking up) and at the same time it is a little sad that I haven't updated my blogs nearly as often as I'd like to.
