I had no idea how busy Vox is compared to a high flying service like Twitter. Wow! This is a pretty strong community. Granted it isn't a status update service/microblogging wanna be service like Twitter is but there is seems to be a lot of steam in blogs. They are certainly nothing to be sneezed at, particularly not a service like Vox.
I've been using Jaiku for a week or two now and I added almost all my feeds to Jaiku a little while ago so now whenever I update something, the update goes into Jaiku too as a kind of grand update of all my activities. I decided to add this blog's feed to Jaiku too. I then went and added my Jaiku feed to my Facebook profile under the Notes section so now people who know me on Facebook will also see all these updates, including updates from this blog. I am not sure how this will work out. I am a little unsure about including this blog's feed, at least I was until I realise that the public posts on this blog are, well, public anyway.
Jaiku is a bit like Twitter although is a bit more advanced in some ways. Jaiku allows comments and one of the features I like the most is this ability to add multiple feeds to a Jaiku profile so someone who subscribes to be Jaiku profile will see updates to my blogs, Twitter feed, Flickr, del.icio.us and whatever else I add to Jaiku. I really like that feature because it gives me a pretty simple way to bring everything together and share a combined stream of updates. Of course you can also post status updates to Jaiku like you can with Twitter although you do have to do this on the Jaiku site itself. Jaiku doesn't work with IM like Twitter does and while it does allow for sms updates, it is an international number. Mind you, there is a mobile client for Jaiku if you use a Series 60 Nokia phone (I think this includes the more recent Nokia smartphones).
Happy New Year everyone!
We had a quiet evening last night and a nice one at that. I think I am a little beyond hectic clubbing and boozing it up (like I was ever a drinker!) so last night really worked for me. Gina made her marvelous chicken for supper although she used Rosemary instead of the lemon mix she made for the week before. It came out really nicely (we have some leftovers for lunch later) and dessert was a mango/granadilla mix and some sort of chocolate and fudge ice cream. Had way too much.
After supper we went off to Jared's mom's house to join him and his friends for the rest of the evening. I found myself sitting on a couch (recovering from all the eating), taking loads of photos of people there, doing their thing.
Wow, I can't believe it is 2007 already. 2006 went by so quickly. Anyway, I am looking forward to this year. There are a number of projects I have started and want to make something of and I am quite excited about them. The last week or two have been pretty busy. I managed to move the blogs I wanted to move and grouped all my active blogs (excluding this personal one) under the banner of my new media company, 3puppies Media. I even launched a podcast yesterday and should have the first real episode up in the next week or so (the episode that is up is an introductory episode).
So all the best to you and your families and friends for the new year! I am going to go get some of that fruit dessert ...
I just realised that the last time I posted on this blog was over a week ago. I have been pretty busy lately (thankfully business is picking up) and at the same time it is a little sad that I haven't updated my blogs nearly as often as I'd like to.
I opened my mail this morning to find that I had been sent an invitation to sign up with Vox. I have been waiting to see what "Project Comet" (Vox's previous code name) would become and I am a little disappointed. I thought Project Comet would be a series of improvements and updates to TypePad (where my two blogs, Neuvo and Grouchy Blogger are) rather than a wholly new service.
At first glance this service seems to be a lot like Yahoo! 360. It is a multimedia, social networking site seemingly intended to emulate the successes of Myspace and Yahoo! 360. Notwithstanding my previous reservations, I am interested in seeing how this service evolves and what that evolution may mean for TypePad and other Six Apart services.
