Not only is Aaron standing up by himself, he started walking this week! He is such a cutie and so proud of himself when he walks. Of course he should be. We are so proud of him too!
I think I have posted this on The Diary of Sprout already but I want to put it up here too. Had a lot of fun playing with Aaron here ...
Our cousin, Mervyn, came to visit from Perth (I think), Australia. He is here on business and we saw him at my mom last night for supper. I took a couple photos which I uploaded to Flickr and which are available here too.
Time really flies. It seems like just a few days ago my cousin got engaged to Jodi. We are at their engagement party where they are expecting about 250 people. I have my camera with me and I'll take more photos and upload them to my Flickr account. I am also uploading them here too. You will also see two short videos of part of the ceremonial phase of the afternoon.
Update:
The afternoon was quite pleasant and the food was fantastic. We're home now, exhausted, after quite a weekend. Congratulations to Farrel and Jodi again. We are looking forward to their wedding in August!
Gina's family has always included Paulina who virtually raised Lindy, my mother in law, Gina and her brothers, Clifford and Matthew. Last night we found out that Paulina was killed while crossing a road in Brits earlier this week. Her death is a tremendous shock, both to her family and to Gina's. This is a photo of Paulina and Gina on our wedding day last year:
Thankfully she is ok and this whole thing turned out to be a lie!
Well, we had some friends and family over for supper last night. We don't celebrate Christmas but it seemed like a good evening to have a bunch of people over, so we did.
Gina made a lemon chicken dish which practically fell apart when she cut the chickens (I have no idea how to cut chickens). She made roast potatoes and veggies with the chicken and it all went down very very well. You can see from the photo that our friend Jonathan was here from Port Elizabeth, my brother Asher and his girlfriend Megan (sitting in front), Gina's friend Sam and her boyfriend Lawrence (standing) and my lovely wife (far right). I was, of course, behind the camera although Sam and Gina also took photos of the group revealing me:
Actually, it is almost lunchtime on Monday. We had a pretty good weekend this last weekend. I know I have been a little scarce here but between my hassles posting updates and everything else, I got a little sidetracked.
We had a braai on Saturday which was a lot of fun. We decided to have some friends and family over and the weather worked out really nicely. As I hoped, it was around 26 degrees (centigrade) and I even got a bit burnt. I jumped in the pool, my brother wound up doing the meat and everyone seemed to have had a lot of fun. I have posted photos to Flickr.
The puppies had a quite an experience. They were around so many people, got to swim (often not when they wanted to) and had to contend with a little girl, Jessie, who was there with Sam and Lawrence.
They behaved a bit better with Jessie although they did get a little too aggressive at one point. It is a difficult one, we want them to adjust to children and the only real way we can achieve that is to expose them to more children. We didn't socialise them as well as we should have to we'll have to keep working on them in the coming months and years. I'm sure they'll be just fine in time though.
Gina and I have extended our humble family. We have just adopted two miniature Dachshund puppies, Salami and Bandit. Here they are, sleeping peacefully! Nice thing about having two puppies is that they pretty much entertain themselves.
There are more photo’s in my Flickr photostream. Initially we just took Salami (the little girl) and she had a tough time on her own so when we found out that the one little boy was available, we grabbed him too and the two of them are much happier together.
